The last picture book for Macdonald, who by this time had been taken over by Simon and Schuster. Picture books after this date were just done with The Bodley Head. The idea for this story came from a true episode with our next door neighbours in Bristol. Their son Johnny had a friend called Anna who lived next door but Johnny's sister Victoria kept shouting "Johnny's in love!" at the top of her voice whenever they were together.
