Come Back Hercules

Hercules goldfish lives in a bowl where he swims round and round through a rock with a hole. But he's fed up with his lonely, boring life and embarks on a journey down the toilet, to the sewers, the river, the sea and eventually a much better home, where he meets Julia...

This book has been out of print for years which is a shame as I still use it in storytelling sessions and teachers love it for it's description of where water goes when you flush the loo...though in my version the sewer empties straight into the river rather than passing through a Sewage Works first. Well I doubt if Hercules would have survived a Sewage Works! Anyway it's now available free online on my 'Stories' page...

Reviews

Given that small children are often extremely curious about loos and what happens to the contents, this verse form story should help solve the mystery! It's also fun. Definitely an unusual but welcome addition to any collection. BOOKS FOR KEEPS

I liked this one a lot. The rhyming text is funny and combines terribly well with the imaginative illustrations....a delightfully amusing and thoughtful book. BOOKS FOR YOUR CHILDREN
