Mr Dunfilling is a brilliant dentist, and is used to looking at all sorts of teeth. But he gets a terrible fright when the zoo-keeper makes an appointment for an animal with ten thousand teeth ! How will the dentist deal with the terrible toothy monster?
This was the first book that I wrote before having any idea of the pictures. It was also my first attempt at a longer text (2000 words). The idea started from a discussion with friends over coffee. There happened to be an encyclopedia on the table and we were browsing and discovered that snails had thousands of tiny teeth called cuticles on a long tongue in their mouths. It got me thinking about possible misunderstandings about the size of a creature with thousands of teeth...and the idea for the book was born. I've never been good at drawing figures so I didn't enjoy the illustrations much. It was also in a different style-just pen and ink instead of my usual acrylics, chalk, wax and inks. Amazingly, this book was still in print until very recently. The Spanish edition has a different illustrator which I thought was much better.

A witty tale..more for the experienced reader but full of cartoon-like fun.
A lovely joke is the basis of this entertaining story....Recommended for lower juniors who like surprises.
